Prism

Prism came to Dr Dee in October of 1984 two months after she had opened her small clinic above Kobuk Fuel and Feed. Michael Dresser a well-known radio personality had found her thin and lost by his house and knew that Dr Dee took in strays to maintain them and find them a home. The adult kitty was a ratty looking cat at the time and no one was interested in the multicolored feline, so she became the official clinic cat, where she blossomed. She was known for slipping into the travel cages clients brought their pets in, while the client and the unsuspecting pet where in the exam room. Many a laughs and surprises when the client would try to put there pet back in the travel kennel to have the crossed blue eyes of the furry employee jump out, startling the B-Jesus out of all involved. She left a lasting impression on those that knew her. Aloof was a perfect description.

When Dr Dee moved into the new location on Peger Road in 1996, Prism was retired to Dr. Dee’s home where she lived the rest of her life pushing papers (usually on to the floor) in Dr. Dee’s home office. She also enjoyed her job as a paperweight.

In November of 2000 she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, for which Dr Dee and her flew to the Feline Hyperthyroid Center in Washington for her radioactive iodine treatments. The cancer in her thyroid was eliminated and she prospered until July of 2004 when her kidneys failed. Resting peacefully in Dr. Dee’s arms, Prism was given the injection of eternal peace July 25, 2004, at an age of approximately 21 years young. She touched the hearts of many clients and employees, known for her lustrous coat and loud purr; she will be missed… especially by Dr. Dee.
